Thinking of Thanksgiving

As you prepare for your family’s Thanksgiving dinner, consider the fact that in Massachusetts 522,000 people will struggle to put food on the table this year. In fact, according to Project Bread, we are entering "a new era of food insecurity."

Unfortunately, hunger is a predominant problem of low-income neighborhoods where the rate is six times higher than the statewide average. Experience shows us that hunger affecting children, seniors, and people suffering with chronic illness—even for a short period time—can lead to a health emergency.

Our meals program was designed to solve this problem by serving 300 meals a day, 7 days a week (over 9,000 meals per month) to shelter guests and members of the community. We achieve this work through the engagement of nearly 400 community volunteers who contribute food, prepare meals, and serve clients. Through this important effort, Lifebridge ensures that hungry men, women, and children have every day access to nutritious meals and exposure to the support they need to overcome the crisis of homelessness.

Please consider organizing a food drive this holiday season or donate $50 to provide one week of meals, three times daily, for a man or woman.
